Yu-Gi-Oh TCG vs OCG

Yu-Gi-Oh splits into two clearly separate worlds. The TCG is the English-language release sold in Thailand and across most of the world; the OCG is the Japanese release sold in Japan and parts of Asia. There is no Thai-language edition of either.

The difference is more than language. The two sides get different sets on different schedules, some cards arrive on one side years before the other, and each has its own banlist — so the decks that dominate competitively are not the same.

The cards are even physically different sizes. OCG cards are slightly smaller than TCG cards, so they cannot be mixed in one deck for sanctioned play and need different sleeves.

On price they are completely separate markets. The same card in TCG and OCG is not worth the same, and for some cards the gap is wide, so quoting one side's price against the other is an easy mistake.

For collectors in Thailand: if you intend to play in local events or resell within Thai groups, the English TCG is the more direct route. If you are collecting for the artwork or want cards earlier, the OCG has its own appeal.
